These are just a few ways to keep yourself safe while surfing and participating in the big wide world of the web . . .
  • never give your address or phone number (or that of your parents) to someone online without your parents' permission
  • tell your parents if you come across information that makes you uncomfortable
  • never arrange to meet someone in person without your parents' permission, and then, only meet in a public place with your parents along
  • never send anyone your picture without first checking with your parents
  • never respond to any messages that are mean or make you feel uncomfortable
  • establish rules and times for when you're online, talking it all over with your parents, and don't go beyond what you've decided is best
  • never give out your passwords to anyone (except maybe your parents)
  • pay attention to the site's rules and guidelines and use good manners in your posts
