An amendment to these rules has been passed by the House of Commons:

In the event of a vacancy in the office of Prime Minister, the President of the United States shall appoint another Prime Minister, who shall have to be reelected as Prime Minister within thirty days by either a dissolution of Parliament, or by a vote of the members of Parliament unless the five-month parliamentary term shall end in the interval.

Should the Prime Minister who resigns be serving as Acting President of the United States, then the outgoing Prime Minister shall appoint a Prime Minister to serve until the end of the current Parliament, or until the next general election.
