ARTICLE XII: LEGAL RIGHTS OF THE HOUSE
A. Right of the House to Punish Its Members Article VII of AGS Rules authorizes the House to punish its own members and outlines the process for censure and punishment. B. Calls to Order and Naming Members who violate decorum in committee or the Floor may be called to order by the presiding officer. A call to order serves as a formal reprimand. The Speaker, and only the Speaker, is authorized to name members who commit egregious violations of decorum or repeatedly disregard the authority of a presiding officer. A named member is suspended from the service of the House for a specified length of no more than seven days. |
