There has been a motion to amend HR 1.315 by striking the following: "Whereas, the House of Representative of these United States, finds proof that both this attack and a similar hostage taking in the Nord-Ost theater in Moscow were orchestrated by "Chechen rebels", who have financial and personale(10 of the attackers were Arabs) ties to the Al-Qaeda terrorist network as well as Muslim extremism at large, which we are at war with," and striking the term "Muslim terrorist extremism" and replacing with "terrorism." Original Bill:
Amended Bill: "Author/Original Sponser: Rep. Robert Schmidt of California Co-Sponsers: Rep. Kurt Garwood of Michigan, Rep. Ford Ramsey of North Carolina, Rep. Edwin Fernandez of Florida, Rep. Ivan Karamazov of New York and Rep. Brad McMillan of North Dakota. Whereas, the House of Representative of these United States wishes to express wishes for a quick recovery to the wounded and injured in the Beslan School terrorist attack and its' condolences to the families of those killed, Whereas, the House of Representative of these United States, wishes to strongly and without equivocation condemn the terrorists involved, as well as anyone who supports them, in this horrendous and unjustifiable attack on innocent children, Whereas, the the House of Representatives of these United States finds that numerous nations, including Russia, Israel, and Pakestan, are under threat and/or active attack from extremist Muslim terrorists Whereas, the House of Representatives of these United States finds that terrorism is one of the largest threats facing our great nation. Thereby, the House of Representatives of these United States resolves that: The Secretary of State should open dialogue with nations who wish to activly fight terrorism, especially, but not limited to, Russia, Israel, and Pakistan, as well as our allies in the Iraq War, and form a formal treaty of Alliance with those nations." |
