Mr. Chair,
What exactly does the bill repeal? I yield. |

Mr. Chair,
This bill would repeal what is often referred to as the McCain-Feingold Campaign Reform Act. The Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act is a remarkable bill and should not be repealed. I would also like to add that the title of this bill is very misleading. I yield. |

Mr. Chair,
I am strongly opposed to this bill as a supporter of the McCain-Feingold Act. The Act reduced the power of PACs and gave more money in the hands of individual donors. While the 527 outbreak was undesirable, it was certainly better than the vast PAC movement that preceeded it. I urge my fellow congresspersons to vote down this bill. I yield. |

Mr. Chairman --
The McCain-Feingold bill had a number of problems, but I would rather address them directly and specifically rather than repealing an entire piece of legislation. As such, I stand opposed to this bill. |
