A BILL To allow states the power to regulate corporate farming. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE This bill may be referred to as the "State Rights to Farming Act" SECTION 2. STATE REGULATION OF AGRICULTURE Title 7 of the United States code will be amended by inserting after Chapter 105 the following new chapter: 'Chapter 106: State Regulation of Agriculture 'Sec. 7901 Functional regulation of Agriculture 'States are granted the power to restrict or prohibit corporations or syndicates from acquiring or otherwise obtaining an interest in any title to a farm or ranch, or from engaging in any farming or ranching within their legal jursidiction. This power shall not extend to family farming and ranching corporations, Indian tribal corporations, non-profit corporations, or to the use of agricultural land for purposes other than farming or ranching. 'Sec 7902 Definition of State 'For purposes of this chapter, the term ``State'' means any State of the United States, any territory of the United States, Puerto Rico, Guam, American Samoa, the Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands, the Virgin Islands, and the Northern Mariana Islands. |
